No Black Hat SEO, Austin!

SEO Black Hat Slippery Slope

Austin, you can think of yourself as a white hat kind of an SEO guy who occasionally dips into black hat, but it’s a slippery business.

Scareware is a new blackhat trick that’s so easily accomplished that it might be tempting to someone already in the black hat neighborhood of SEO, Austin.

Black Hat guys use fairly simple redirect codes to make it appear to the user that he’s on the road to a reliable site, which shows up high in the rankings because it’s well-known. Then the user is quickly redirected to the black hat site, which gains in hits and clicks and malicious meanness from this evil technique of SEO, Austin.

So, No Black Hat SEO, Austin

It’s just so easy to slide into that sort of thing; when you never see your victims, it’s easy to forget they’re there – but not for the FTC, apparently, which has filed suit against these shenanigans of SEO, Austin, and it could happen to anyone, even you. These black hat guys are finding that life’s not as much fun when your assets are frozen.

Part IV: Yet Another Search Engine Optimization Metaphor

Part IV: Another Search engine optimization Metaphor

Dear Austin – Thank you for asking advice from LAL – here’s Part IV of my advice: No Black Hat Techniques

Black Hat techniques have long been popular in love – essentially, it’s trickery. The analogy is actually pretty stable – search engine optimization, Austin, is a lot like seduction – it serves a valuable goal when honestly pursued, but nobody likes being tricked, either in internet searching or in love.

Specific Search Engine Optimization Black Hat Analogies:

One search engine optimization Black Hat technique is “stuffing” a site with keywords that might not even have relevance to the topic. In love, this is roughly equal to saying a million fake “I love yous.” Or possibly, pretending to be interested in kittens, or soap operas, to get the girl.

Try again, an improper search engine optimization, Austin, might entail zillions of worthless backlinks to a site. The Love equivalent to this would be getting all your fraternity buddies to happen to drop by to tell the girl that you’re shy and never, ever date. That’s not search engine optimization, Austin, that’s tricking the “user” whether it’s the girl or the web visitor.

Black hat search engine optimization, Austin, relies on the notion of striking fast and moving on, anticipating that the sites they are promoting may be shut down in the near term. A romantic cad likewise has no honorable intentions of staying around for long.

In classic romance terms, the guy who uses black hat search engine optimization, Austin, is the guy at the end of the story who watches sadly as the great girl rides off into the sunset with the white hat guy.
